Julie Wood on log by a river

Welcome! I’m Julie.

I'm a Medicine Womban (yes, that’s how I spell it!) living in Taos, New Mexico. I believe that bringing back honor and reverence for the Sacred Feminine - alongside the Divine Masculine - is key to creating a balanced world.

While we often think of the Divine Mother as something outside of us, the truth is that she returns through us – the women. As we recover from people pleasing and good girl conditioning - we become expressions of our Divine Mother’s wisdom, love, fierceness – the fullness of who she is.

That’s why I’m committed to helping you release the conditioning that keeps you small so you can be who you were divinely created to be.

I support women to access the wisdom of their bodies and liberate their womb from personal and ancestral trauma so they express the fullness of who they are with joy and creativity. I offer womb healing, Family Constellations, Womb Constellations as well as personal healing retreats.

Here’s a bit of the story of how I got here.

Growing Up
I was the quintessential people pleaser at least since kindergarten - trying to be the daughter my mother would love. This left me over-thinking, over-performing and over-conforming. Since my 20s, I’ve been peeling back the layers to discover and express who I really am. Many of the women I work with are in a similar process.

Corporate Life
After graduating from Princeton in 1992, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. I taught bilingual second grade in Los Angeles through Teach for America before stumbling into a career in advertising, which I thought was a short-term thing until 18 years had gone by and I was Managing Director of a big NYC ad agency.

Spirit Journey
In 2013, I was done. I simply couldn’t continue to do work that didn’t fulfill me. I met a guy, quit my job, and 3 months later we took off on our Spirit Journey in a 2-door Jeep Wrangler, sleeping in a rooftop tent. We called the journey “Only the Wind Knows” and ended up visiting 69 countries over 5 years.

Our takeaway from our Spirit Journey was:
The world is safe. The world is beautiful. There are good people wherever you go.

The guy’s name is Russ. We’ve celebrated 13 years together, counting from our first date - because that’s when our souls reunited in this lifetime. We were married twice on September 10 - first in 2015 in Kathmandu, Nepal in a spontaneous ceremony with a spiritual advisor called Mr. Shiva and again the next year after hiking to the top of Mt. Minsi on the Delaware River - the site of our first kiss.

Medicine Teachers
On our Journey, we visited three of the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers in their homes, were introduced to the “niños santos” (medicinal mushrooms) in the mountains of Oaxaca and participated in many plant medicine ceremonies across South America. One night when I was assisting at a retreat in the Peruvian Amazon, I sang Divine Love into the medicine space. When I finished, the shaman announced “Ladies & Gentlemen, you are witnessing the birth of a medicine woman.”

As I continue to fully embody my healing gifts, I’m grateful for all the teachers in the form of plants, animals and humans who’ve helped me to connect with my heart, my womb and the medicine I’m here to share.

I believe that we ALL have medicine to share.
My role is to help women to remember their true selves, share their gifts, and live with freedom, joy & authenticity.

Studies & Trainings
Since I was a child, I felt the presence of Mother Mary with me, and I understood that there are forces at work in our lives that are way beyond our human understanding. I always had a deep desire to connect with the Divine. When I moved to Brazil at age 27, a country that is very spiritually awake, I initiated an ongoing dedication to my own growth and expansion.

In addition to exploring religious and mystical traditions from Christianity to Siddha Yoga, I’ve been on the receiving end of countless sessions from talk therapy to soul retrieval to quantum hypnosis.

I’ve studied and practiced Reiki, energy healing, trauma-informed somatic coaching, inner parts work, sexual self-healing, embodied public speaking, shamanic ancestral work, family and ancestral healing, womb mysteries, and more.

I trained as a plant medicine ceremonial assistant from 2016 to 2020 before receiving an invitation from the mushroom spirit in November 2020, the week I turned 50, to share the medicine as a guide for others.

Certifications
I’m a Reiki Master (2018), a trauma-informed VITA™ Coach with focus on Women’s Empowerment and Life Transitions (2019), WomanSpeak Facilitator and Speaker (2020), and Land Blessing SongKeeper (2026). In 2022, I was certified by the Hellinger Institute as a Family Constellations Facilitator.

More than any training, I’ve found that the key to holding a deep, safe and sacred space for others is to turn everything over to God ~ Creator ~ Source.
In my work, I invite Divine Light to come in and do the healing.

Taos
I live in Taos, NM with my husband overlooking the snow-capped Rocky Mountains, surrounded by the sweet smell of sage, hanging out with our friends -- the coyotes, bighorn sheep, hummingbirds, quails, tarantulas, red-tailed hawks and the occasional rattlesnake.
